A glass crashed and nothing was the same ever again, they found the pieces and since they knew it was precious they tried to gather every single piece and bring it back to what it used to be, the magic within it was already lost. So instead of crying for what was lost, they realized it was useless to try to repair what once existed but they need to built a new jewel which would mean everything for a future.
